Local Attractions

Newcastle city centre is approximately a mile from Clifton House. The centre is a place of energy and excitement. Many visitors enjoy returning to the quiet and comfortable atmosphere of Clifton House at the end of a busy day or action packed night.

Clifton House has large private car park also gives the option of a leisurely walk into town, or a short bus or taxi ride to your chosen destination.

 We are only a short distance from Newcastle Airport. There are plenty of transport options including metro and bus to reach us quickly and safely.

Newcastle is a city for everyone; the music lover, the drama queen, the culture vulture or the wild child. The bars, restaurants, museums and theatres are plentiful. Metro Radio Arena is a five minute journey from the hotel, we are therefore ideally situated for you to relax and enjoy the world class entertainment performed at the Arena throughout the year.

Shoppers are well catered for with the city's Eldon Square shopping centre and also Gateshead's Metrocentre. Both are easily accessible and well served by public transport.

Newcastle is of course famous for its football and whether you are a supporter of the "Toon Army" or not, Newcastle United's ground, St. James Park, is well worth a visit.

The spectacular Millennium Bridge and Baltic Art Centre have particularly impressed our international guests who always comment they want to return to this wonderfully exciting city and stay in the lovely Victorian Clifton House.

Walkers and Cyclists

We are also on the trail for Hadrian's Wall and the Coast to Coast. Started by Alfred Wainwright the famous writer and hill-walker, the Coast to Coast Walk crosses 3 National Parks and undoubtedly some of England's finest scenery.
